In fact, there can be nothing more annoying than wig lifting when you least expect it! Whether you are on a date, in the office, or en route to your destination, a lifting wig can completely ruin your look. Here are a few tips to help you fix lifting a lace front wig and eventually keep a wig from lifting.

Wig lifting usually happens due to weak adhesive, oil or sweat on the hairline, or humidity. Water from washing or showering can also loosen the bond. Always start with a clean, dry, oil-free scalp for better hold.
If your lace wig begins to lift and you can’t make it in for a replacement, there are some easy steps about how to fix a lifting lace.
If you are using a glued lace front wig, this is what you will need:
Step 1
Soak a little bit of 91% alcohol on a paper towel or a cotton swab, and then raise the front of the lace until all the glue is coming off. And use your finger to separate the wig cap from the wig.
Step 2
Soak a little bit of 91% alcohol on a paper towel or a cotton swab and put it on the lace to clean the lace until all the glue is removed from the lace.
Step 3
Lift up the loose frontal at the wig, take a dime-sized amount of spiking glue on your finger, and rub it into the scalp just under the front part of the wig.
Step 4
Add another layer of spiking glue after it dries for a few seconds. Once it feels tacky, add another layer of the glue. You can also spray a bit of holding spray under the edge of the closure. Spritz it at the edge of the lace onto your skin rather than your hair, and let it dry enough to feel tacky.
Step 5
Hold the wig in place for a few minutes with your hand by pressing down on the front part near the hairline so that it melts and sticks.
Step 6
Use a blow dryer on a cool setting to let the lace stick to your hairline. If you don’t want to hold it in place with your hand, tie a silk scarf over the area to keep it in place.
Step 7
Take the scarf off after 15-20 minutes and spray on a bit of the product right along the hairline in order to better secure the wig on your head. Once you find there is any loose hair in front of the wig on your forehead, lift it up and spray a bit again along the closure.
As we all know, installation using wig adhesive tends to shift around 3-4 weeks. In other words, whenever your lace begins to lift, or your natural edges are exposed, and unable to blend with your hairline, please consider taking it off your head for a replacement.
Wig tape is one of the easiest ways to keep your lace frontal secure, especially if you want a hold that feels lightweight, clean, and beginner-friendly. When applied correctly, it helps your lace stay flat against the skin and reduces lifting throughout the day.
Before applying anything, make sure your hairline area is clean and completely dry. Any oil, sweat, or leftover product can weaken the hold of the wig tape. You can lightly cleanse the area with alcohol wipes and let it dry fully.
Braid or flatten your natural hair as much as possible so the frontal lays smoothly. Then position your lace frontal to check the placement before applying any tape. This helps you avoid mistakes and ensures a natural hairline alignment.

Cut the wig tape into small strips for better control. Place the strips along your hairline or directly under the lace area, depending on your preference. Press each strip down firmly so it sticks well to the skin.
Carefully press the lace onto the tape starting from the center and moving outward. Use your fingers or a rat-tail comb to smooth it down. Take your time here — the smoother the application, the more natural it will look.
Once the lace is in place, tie a silk or satin scarf around your hairline for 10–15 minutes. This helps the lace melt into the skin and improves long-lasting hold.
Wig glue gives a stronger, longer hold, while wig tape is easier, cleaner, and more beginner-friendly. Choose glue for long wear and tape for quick daily use or sensitive skin.
Clean and dry your hairline before installation, use sweat-resistant adhesive, and avoid heavy oils near the lace. Breathable lace wigs or glueless options can also help reduce lifting.
Most wig glues last about 3–4 weeks with proper care. If you notice lifting or loose edges, it’s time to remove and reinstall the wig.
Yes, but you need regular maintenance. Clean your hairline often, avoid product buildup, and reapply adhesive when needed to keep it secure and natural-looking.
