Feathered bangs are similar to curtain bangs, but they don’t have to be parted in the middle. They can be worn any which way. Unlike layered bangs, feathered bangs get their texture at the ends, not by cutting layers directly into the hair.

The Pros Of Feathered Bangs

Feathered bangs have been an absolute favorite among women of all ages and the best match for a feathered haircut for many seasons already. Let us look at why feathered bangs are popular.

1. Suitable for any texture and any length

Whether you have straight hair, curly hair, or wavy hair, feathered bangs are both super elegant and cute. And feathered bangs 90s also work great for different haircuts and are a great addition to haircuts of different lengths, going especially well with cheeky short bobs, layered shoulder-length haircuts, and pixie cuts that are all the rage right now.

2. Versatile

Feathered fringe bangs are easy to style, and can offer you a fresh image, and look beautiful with a little effort. Also, you can style feathered bangs in many ways with the right abilities and tips. For example, you can curl, blow dry, or gel it into place.

How To Cut Feathered Bangs

In fact, it is not difficult to make feathered bangs by yourself at all. To feather your own bangs, you only need to have a steady hand, light touch, and a bit of patience, as getting the technique just right may take some practice. There is a step-by-step tutorial about how to cut your own feathered bangs.

What You Will Need:

A professional scissors;

A wide-toothed comb;

Hair pins;

A fine mist spray bottle;

A hairdryer and a round brush;

Step One

First of all, wash your hair with high-quality shampoo and conditioner to remove oil and residue and then dry as normal. Dry your hair with a towel until it is slightly damp. For a good feathered style, your hair should be clean and dry.

Step Two

The next step is to place the tip of the comb at the top center of your head that is about 2 inches back from the hairline and draw two even lines from this center point toward your temples with the tip of the comb. Pull the hair in front of these new parts forward as your bangs and make them away from the rest of the hair.

Step Three

Clip back the rest of your hair using hair clips to avoid it getting in your way. If you already have bangs, simply separate the bangs from the rest of your hair and clip away the longer section of your hair to keep it out of the way.

Step Four

Smooth the frontal bangs with the comb, and then clip the hair between your index and middle fingers to lift the bangs up. In this process, you must make sure the strands lay flat and even. Pull the bangs to the opposite side of your face from where you want the feathered bangs to sit. For example, if you want your bangs to hug the right side of your face, pull them over to the left side of your face for trimming. If your part is on the left, hold the hair off to the right.

Step Five

Hold your closed fingers at a vertical angle at the opposite side of your face to help you trim at the correct angle so your bangs have a gentle, feathered shape. It is very important to cut into the bang tips with hairstyling scissors vertically, not horizontally.

Next, trim the feathered bangs by cutting directly into the hair extending from your fingers using small, quick snips. Cut off about 1/2 inch of hair at a time by snipping into the hair, also called point-cutting, to get the feathered look and avoid over-cutting or making them too short. Don’t forget to use a comb to smooth the feathered bangs into place after each round of trimming to make sure achieve the shape and the length of the feathering you like.

Step Six

After cutting is done, apply a dab of texturing or styling gel into the palms of your hands and rub some hair gel into your bangs evenly.

Step Seven

Brush the bangs to get a feathered style with a round-barrel brush while blow-drying the bangs with the other hand. You can roll the hair under or flip it up as you brush it.

Step Eight

Blend the feathered bangs with the rest of your hair using your fingers and spray your hair lightly with hairspray or freeze spray. If your hair maintains curls well, skip the spray. Now it is time to enjoy your feathered bangs!

Notice: For short hair, feather half an inch of hair. For chin-length hair, feather at least 3 inches, and for long hairstyles, feather 6 to 10 inches of hair.
